Two Concrete Monoliths is a monumental public sculpture 20 meters high, located in Zapopan, Jalisco (metropolitan area of Guadalajara). Its title is completely descriptive, since the sculpture is composed of two identical rectangular columns. Only one column remains vertical, stable and firm, while its counterpart leans on it. The composition, despite being very abstract and geometric or minimalist, suggests a very human situation; meeting, interaction, collaboration, or mutual support.
The two concrete monoliths are the same but under different circumstances: one supports the weight of the other. This image refers to many others almost unconsciously. There is a pleasant or relaxing feeling in that relationship between the two monoliths, that refers to a very human or very natural situation, of how the world and its elements work: based on relationships. There is always something that gets in touch with something else to generate something else or get moving. There is nothing that exists by itself, independent of everything.
