His multidisciplinary, abstract and minimalistic work can be understood as a series of material and architectural explorations that are generated at the crossroads between experience and perception. Through his use of different media such as site-specific interventions, sculpture, drawing, video, painting and installation, he emphasizes the materiality of the elements present in his work. Francisco Ugarte’s gestures subtly lead the viewer to pay a more profound attention to the environment. Recurrent themes in his practice include notions of presence, perception, action, intuition, light, time, change, space, materiality, and universality.
